I was excited to receive by UPS yesterday, the author copies of Sacred Tears.

Holding the paperback and hardback versions in my hands was the realisation of a long standing dream to become a published author.

There is a saying that everyone has a story in them, but I was once told that most people would be best advised to keep it there.

Writing Sacred Tears made me realise just how hard it is to write a novel. Being able to write well is not at all the same thing as having something to say. And there was the question of getting published. An enormous number of novels never get published and there was always a nagging doubt in my mind whether everything I was doing was in vain.

It has been a great effort to keep going with a project that has taken this long and at times I wondered whether it would ever come to fruition. But like many things in life, nothing worthwhile ever comes easily.

What I have learnt is that if you have a dream and give yourself every opportunity to realise it, you will eventually succeed.
