Book review

I received the report from Alan who reviewed the book. His report was encouraging. ‘This plot-driven story held me and I wanted to keep reading to find out what would happen. Some of the action sequences in Beirut and the jungle were really enthralling. There is a real authenticity to many sequences. The UN convoy leaving Beirut was particularly evocative and believable. I found the Buddhist temple massacre strong and really […]

Independent review

I am at the stage where I need a fresh set of eyes to go over the narrative. Sarah (my editor) and I decided it was time.  So I sent the manuscript to an professional editor who was recommended to me to review the work I have done so far. Alan’s report is due in two weeks and I am anxiously waiting to see what he has to say.

Book club feedback

The Woodlands Book Club in the UK has been running since 2008 and meet once a month to discuss the book they are reading. Final edit received

Just received the final edit from Sarah and her report is encouraging as ever. “What a good rewrite you’ve done! You have really tightened it up. The story is much more taut and pacy. Getting there

Just received a progress report from Sarah who is editing my latest manuscript. She has completed about two thirds of the work and should have it ready by the end of next week the latest. Cannot wait! In the meantime I am working on preparing material for the website which is being developed by a friend of mine.

Size matters

When I first began writing Sacred Tears, I set myself no targets other than to write a thousand words a day. I had developed an outline for the narrative and  I wrote at every opportunity I got. Very soon I found myself racing past 50,000 words, and then 100,000 words. But when I past the 200,000 word mark, I realized that there were still a number of chapters to write, and […]

My first book …

Sacred Tears is my first attempt at writing a book.  Coming from an information writing background, I needed to transform into a creative writer which I did with the help of a published author. Sarah Armstrong, an award winning Australian radio and TV journalist, decided to become a full time author and went through the same process I am going through to change her style of writing. Her critically acclaimed […]
